There are two key logs where your information is stored and if someone
doesn't post them first, I'll find them later--they have the name Tiger in
them as I suppose Chris Jones' bid to get Bill to buy him an Ipod or maybe
since the IE guy Dean Hachamovitch told Jobs he was sending him Vist after
Jobs asked him why he was ripping off OS X so much (while not coming back
and telling Jobs that Apple ripped off IE 4 a great deal) at an accidental
restaurant meeting--maybe Jones thinks Jobs will send him an Ipod for the
Vista.

Anyway what is more important Josh is that you can probably fix Vista and
quickly:

There is a promising "feature" or utility in Vista called Win RE or Windows
Recovery Environment.

***Accessing Windows RE (Repair Environment):***

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned) because any thought that OEM
will media will work for this in the future is pure blarney from MSFT
because they don't want to take joint responsibility with the 300 "OEM
named partners" to make this happen. MSFT's OEM VP is an accountant and he
be accountin' money not Windows Vista code.

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the
lower left corner, a link called "System Recovery Options."***

3) Select your OS for repair.

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from the
Win RE feature,

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2)System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore

Fabricant is also a feature but I'm not sure what its status is in Beta
2/5456.5 currently.

Good luck,

CH

I thank you for your response, but I never actually set a restore point and
am kicking myself (repeatedly) now.

I did get in once, after many a safemode and disk check and normal restart,
freeze, restart... but couldn't restore it.

I just compounded my issues by reinstalling VISTA. I formatted the drive it
was on, and thus gave the initial boot menu nothing to load from, and even
after reinstalling from within XP64 I'm left at a pretty: NTLDR Missing

I'm burning the DVD to boot from right now, so I'll give a reinstall a shot.
I'm hoping my XP and XP64 boot can be restored with a little boot.ini
rebuilding.
Any info on rebuilding the new boot menu, or how to modify it so I can at
least boot to XP/XP64?
