I am tearing my hair out trying to bottom this out.

I have WinXP SP2 installed on the following hardware:

Athlon 64 (ASUS AV8 mainboard)

1 120Gb SATA disk, Primary partition (C:) and extended (D:) connected to
VIA SATA controller

2 160Gb SATA disks, RAID1 array connected to integrated Promise 20378
controller.

Both Retrospect 7 and NTBackup stick or fail (Retrospect in particular)
due to "Delayed Write Failure".

Using the Promise Array Manager (PAM) I have tried Enabling/Disabling

1. Disk write cache
2. Drive Write cache
3. Array Write Through / Write Back.

But nothing seems to fix the problem.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what the problem might be here? I just
know that while my pants are down with no backup, something ghastly will
happen soon...

thanks

Where are you trying to backup to? That error is common with external
drives.
