Unable to back up/copy Outlook .pst files

I am unable to back up Outlook .pst files (by "copy" & "paste"). After I
click "paste" I get the following message: "Cannot copy Outlook: The process
cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the
file."

Previously I had no problem regularly backing up the Outlook .pst files. The
most recent thing I did in Outlook before this problem began was to "fix"
Outlook so that it would access my Outlook Contacts file as the Address book.

Assistance, sympathy or therupy would be truly appreciated.

Did you close Outlook before trying to paste the file?

It was as simple as that... and it worked! Thank you Jeffrey, for your

I am having the same problem...trying to move my .pst folder from one
computer to another. Tried the previously suggested remedy without success.
Any other ideas. please??!!
