Don

I am able to access the web but some sites never come up.
The page remains blank the green progress bar moves to
about 5 or six squares and stops. I can leave it like
this for up to 30 min. occasionally a page not ava. mess.
appears.
I have two computers on the web through a linksys router
if this has any bearing on the problem.

What model Linksys router?

Check your system for "hijackware":

Dealing with Hijackware

http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#tshoot
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Linksys BEFVP41 two computers hooked on win98se on
cel800mhz and winxp on cel 1.4ghz they are networked
using winxp.
downloaded and applied spybot and removed all red marked
and most green (left those related to media player which
had no discription.)
Downloaded and installed "HOST" this replaced a host
already there that I did not install. Possibly a Winxp
update?
accessed linksys and winxp troubleshooting but solutions
wer beyond my expertise.
Still cannot access some web pages.

Don,
downloaded and applied spybot and removed all red marked" http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi

Downloaded and installed "HOST"
From where? there are many bogus HOSTS files that contain
non-existent entries, or entries that shouldn't exist.
Still cannot access some web pages"
Please explain ....what happens? any errors?

I downloaded the "host" from the MVPS.org web site.
The problem is that the site is found, the green bars
move to 5 or six, and then everything just stops and the
page remains blank. No error messages, no blinking lights
on the modem. Nada.
