Some functions on some webpages turn my cursor icon to a "red fist" and and
do not work. Other functions on the same page will work.
I have checked my computer with Norton Intivirus which found no viruses.
No one seems to have even heard of this.
Any ideas?

Hi Lou,
We *have* heard of this, but it was a brown fist. See:"
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?p=70266 The victim in that situation
apparently didn't resolve it.

This sounds like a legitimate program that's misconfigured or damaged in
some way. Which security programs are you running?

Can you post a link to a page where this happens? Which links or features
prompt the red fist?

Hi Don,
Thanks for the response.
When I left-click on the "Help" menu at the top of the webpage for:
http://www.mcmaster.com
I get the "Red Fist" cursor icon and an ominous sound.
I also get it when I try to print a copy of an invoice for an order I have
placed with them.
Since posting the question I have installed and used the "Opera" web browser.
I haven't yet had this problem when using Opera but still have it using
Internet Explorer.
So far it appears the problem is somehow connected with IE.
Best regards,
Lou Balleweg

Lou,
The "Help" link at http://www.mcmaster.com is a Javascript link that opens a
new window (as you've found out.)

It still sounds like a third-party toolbar or security program is blocking
this type of link.

Any programs in the Systray that you had forgotten about? Anything in Ctrl
Panel> add/remove that you don't recognize or no longer use?

You might take a look at IE> View> Toolbars. Or Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look at
applications and/or processes. Check the settings for toolbars or add-ons
from your ISP. Are you running Earthlink pop-up blocker or e-scam blocker?

If running XP SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons.

Good Luck,
Don
