My client has a Windows NT 4 server and has a windows 2000
workstation. Till recently he was able to acces the mapped
drive from window NT SErver machine. But recently the
mapped drive is seen available but its not able to access
it properly.
I tried the ping and I received aproper ping response.
Can you all please help ne in finding what could be the
cause of slowing down of network acess to my mapped
drive .
Ihave already change the ethernet card but it didnt solve
my problems.
Also I have removed and reinstalled the network services
again.

Please explain exactly what you mean with ". . . the mapped

When I logon I am able to see the mapped drive and the
networking is available but when I try to copy from the
mapped drive even a 215Kb file it would take a lot of time
to copy even when the shared drive has full access
provided for the user.

If you can copy a file then you are NOT dealing with an access
permission issue. If it was an access permission issue then
you would not be able to view/copy/open this file at all.

You might have a network hardware issue, e.g.
- faulty hub/switch
- marginal CAT5 cable
- incorrectly terminated fly lead

Set your network adapter to 10 MBits/s, then copy a 1 MByte
file to the server. This should take 2..3 seconds. Increase the
speed to 100 MBits/s and see what happens. Do this test with
different fly leads, CAT5 cables and hub ports.
