I noticed yesterday that I am unable to start Help and
Support from the Start menu - the icon shows working for
a few seconds and nothing happens. Attempted to run
SysInfo from the System Tools menu but had the same
results.
I found that the Help and Support service is not starting
automatically, as it is configured to do. I tried to
start the service manually and received the following
error message: "Error 1083: The executable program that
this service is configured to run in does not implement
the service". The Event Viewer shows a Service Control
Manager Error, Event ID: 7000.
I have restored an earlier saved registry with no change
in symptoms. I also ran sfc /scannow which prompted for
the system CD but after rebooting the symptoms remained
unchanged.
Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
