Unable to Access Folder

Two issues, think they are interconnected.

1] I have a stand alone PC which connects to the internet via cable. Having
ventured to my "Network Connections" folder recently I came across a
connection which stated it was a " shared internet connection on computer
MAFIA' and this mafia is an icon on my so called network!

I do not have a network connection (that I know off) and nor have I wanted
to share my PC through any such network. Problem is there is no delete
option. I do not need a network and I want my PC to revert to not having
one.

How do I get this network connection off my system? The OS is XP Pro.

2] Since a few days ago, I have not been able to access a folder on my
drive; it says "access denied". Since the folder is not that important I
did not give it much thought. But now I think it has something to do with
this connection and that it has taken my rights or something like that. Any
ideas?

Right click it and choose Delete
