Hello,
Thank you for your response!
I purchased the SpyHunter software-[$30 for the year] and
I believe its been a very effective program, and they
actually called me last night to help me through the
process of installing the new definition, and it promptly
removed 88 parasites.
The new desktop items [I've since found out] are due to an
accidental un-install of a program;"BR PhotoArchiver"-a
freebie. And I've been able to use that program again now
since corresponding with the creator of BRPA [this
morning], so now 'm just waiting to hear back from him in
regards to what to do with these new desktop items.
I wonder this though: I had some questions for Enigma-
[SpyHunter company name] and a rep called me last night
and we discovered that I did not recieve the e-mail for
the new definition update-[???] so she proceeded to walk
me through the install. When all was done, the scan
performed recognized 88 parasites and 65 of them were in
my registry and classed as "severe". The scans I had been
doing prior to this new definition only produced a handful
of "cookies" here and there, and only in my "memory" area.
When I asked the tech about this she said it was because
the old definition was being used.
QUESTION:
Since these items were sitting in my registry for several
weeks and "severe", what was to stop them from moving on
into my system? Isn't that what they are designed to do?
[diabolicaly!] to "infect"? [I asked the tech about this
and she couldn't answer]
Everything seems to be running just fine on my computer.
I also have the latest definition of Norton Utilities/Disk
Dr.
I hardly get any pop-ups.
I did get advice in another forum to use the "AdAware"
program, even though I use SpyHunter-[Enigma's claim is
that it recognizes and removes spyware AND adware-
QUESTION:so why double-up??
Since the new definition came out I would think that it
has improved even more.

Hello,
I updated the SpyHunter program to its latest def., after
un-installing the old version, and all went fine but
suddenly I had 9 new desktop icons, 8 that are the dog-
eared "document" looking ones and one "e" [explorer]
icon. All of them say "About WebReference".com.br0/and
br1;br2... Afraid to open anything for further
investigation-[could they be parasitic?] so I ask; any
advice on getting rid of them or moving them to another
place or just what TO do about them? Oh, now I see
a "free offers" icon up there too, how do these just
appear un-solicited like that?
Thank you kindly,
SUZ
. Hi Suz,
get rid of spyhunter and download spybot search and
destroy, this is currently the best spyware tool
then run another system scanSee Frank Saunders MVP
