Un-Install string lost

Hello to all
We all know those little programs that mis-behave and you can't kick them
out because they even lack the un-install string.
But one need not worry (I think) when installing a program from a big
reputable company as Intel but this is my problem.
I installed an Intel Camera program called "Intel create and share" that
isn't working at all. I tried to remove it via the ADD/REmove page but no
joy there. The program name do exist on the Add/Remove page but clicking
delete will not remove it.

I checked the program folder on the HDD and it has a sub folder named
"uninstall" but it is empty.

How to create, or find somewhere, such an Un Install string?

Alternately, manually removing the program folder with all its content will
leave behind few hunderds leftover in the registry. Any one have a good idea
how to go about it?

Thanks

A couple of ideas.
Go to the Intel web site that deals with that program and see if there is a
forum there or elseware where you can glean info or ask questions. I'm sure
you're not the only one with that problem.
Reinstall the program while disconnected from the Internet and turn off all
your antispyware and antivirus programs and stop any running programs that
you don't need while installing that program again.
Sometimes antivirus and other programs that are running when you try to
install a new program, mess up the install.

Dear John John
I tried re-installing the program one on top of the other.
The working program didn't improve, still misbehaving as the first one but
now I got a double mess.
The program folder grew from 65 items to over 100 items, I shudder to think
the mess in the registry it left as this is a large program.
I got a program called Add Remove pro 2.11 :
http://www.soft32.com/download_9082.html but it is no better then MS own
ADD/REMOVE page. What one can't do neither can the other.
But maybe it is because I only downed the free part of the program and the
part to be purchased can do better.

But after my last disaster I wouldn't dare go into the registry, by myself,
or armed with a MS approved registry cleaner for which I paid good money,
and it cleaned the regsitry indeed but with it it eliminated some critical
files window kept asking for and freezing up when I couldn't provide those
files.

Reversing the registry cleanup, a feature of the registry cleaner itself
didn't restore it back as apparently the cleaner deleted those files out of
the machine. So two weeks ago I had to do format and clean install and I
absolutely hate to go through it again just because trusting a big name and
installing their program.
This is where it stands now.

Thanks for your attention and help

How long ago did you install this program? If only a few days or less
and if no other major changes were made to the system then I would use
System Restore and roll back the machine to a point just prior to the
installation then delete the program's folders. Other than that I think
that Buffalo's suggestion that you seek if help from Intel or from an
Intel help forum might be your best bet.

Dear John John
Over the years MS "System Restore" did help me two times.
This time I tried it but it too can't remove the Intel leftovers. It is
amazing, a huge folder sitting in C:\program files++all the registry entries
and no program can find it...

It wieghs a total of 200 MB and I can live with it on board as after the
last disaster and clean install, I also changed the HDD from 48 to to 500
Gig ...

Something unheard of when I remmeber my first computer in 1994 had the
mighty HDD of eighty (80) MB....
I remember Bill Gates comment when computers capacities moved from
Kilobites to Megabites he said: ** People will never use all that**.... Now
we talk TETRA bites!.

So I will leave this Intel there, hoping it will not jump out of its folder
and eat something else...:-)
Thanks for your attention

I don't know what you mean by "...can't remove the Intel leftovers."
What does that mean? That you can't delete Intel folders? Why not?
What happens when you try? What kind of error messages are you getting?

Are you running XP Home or XP Pro?

John

Actually if Drora had a System Restore Point saved BEFORE the Intel stuff
was added, and then restored to that point, most of the potentially
problematic parts of that installation would be removed (but some files
might be left behind).

I run XP PRO.
I can remove PART of the big folder of Intel, but window come back to tell
me that it can't remove this or that so after one try I simply stopped this
fight with windows.

I tried to rename all that folder parts and "Steal" them, but windows won't
allow this either and it is easy to understand why, it is all in the
registry and windows will not allow removal of folders that are still on the
registry.

I will use the idea to give up on intel and use another camera program. But
what I don't know is, will any program work with any camera? Is there no
digital relationship between the graphic program and the Camera features?

Thanks for a reply
