Un-hide address, links, and file menu bars

Dan

On startup of IE 6 SP1, the standard buttons, address bar,
links, and file menu bars are hidden and can't be un-
hidden by "grabbing the handle" and "pulling them down" to
expose them. The "handle" is there when I hover over the
top border of the window, but left clicking on it doesn't
allow me to drag it.
I can't find a menu option anywhere in tools that controls
what menu bars are present at start up. The toolbar
lock/unlock menu item (from menu when you right click on
the tool bars) isn't present except on the window that is
launched when I right click in open space.
Any ideas?

I just found an earlier post (from 7/30) on the same
topic. I'll try the REG EDIT as suggested by Frank
Saunders. If that doesn't work I'll post back to the news
group. Thanks for the valuable service (and if the fix
works -- thanks in advance for the help Frank Saunders).

Thanks Frank Saunders, MS-MVP. The URL you posted in your
note to Sam Spade on the 31st worked like a charm. Can
you shed som light on what caused the problem? What was
it that changed the registry??? Thanks, Dan

No.
I don't know what you're talking about. You don't give enough information
for me to find my post easily and you don't quote the signficant part. At
least give me the subject line of the post.

Sorry, I didn't mean to tie you up with the replies. Your
reply was:

No Toolbars.....Popup window appearance only "Frank
Saunders, MS-MVP" <[email protected]> 7/30/2003
9:25:10 PM

In your reply you provided a URL:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/ToolbarRepair.Exe

that provided the file, ToolbarRepair.exe that "fixed" the
registry. I would just like to know if you have an idea
of how the IE toolbar defaults got changed in the registry
so that I can avoid the problem in the future.

Thanks, Dan

No, I don't. Probably something you downloaded made the change. Adware or
spyware?

Get and run these four programs:
Ad-Aware:

and
Spybot - Search & Destroy -
