Hi,

I want to use UDMA on windows XP with the HD ST340810A (my
bios is compatible UDMA 5, my mothercard too, and also the
Hard disk). The DMA doesn't appear when I try to see it on
HD properties.
What can I do, if so compatibilities exist winth windows
XP, to activate UDMA ?
Thanks a lot

You need to install your motherboard's (not mothercard) chipset drviers. The
two most widely used chipsets for motherboards are VIA and Intel. Refer to
your system's or motherbaord's manual to see which one to use.

Also, if your motherboard is using an Intel chipset, after installing the
chipset drivers, you can install the Intel Application Acelerator software.
This provides the UltraDMA(UDMA) drivers for Intel chipsets only, but only
after the chipset drivers are installed.

HI;
XP does put that info under "HDDs"
That's for ID. purposes only.
As for the "Properties" of the devices attached to the 2 channels look
under:
"IDE ATA/ATAPI Controlers"
using the same "Device Manager/Hardware".
