Ultra 160 Tape Drive on Ultra 160 Bus?

Can I plug an Ultra 160 tape drive into an Ultra 320 cable and will it work?

I was under the impression they were backwards compatible and the connectots
the same, so assume it will but don't know enough about the standards to say
with certainty.

We have a Ultra 320 rack enclosure with an LT0 tape drive in (which is of
course an Ultra 320 device), but it has a spare bay and port and I wanted to
try and utilise it to run an old AIT drive we have (which is an Ultra 160
device).

This is all HP/Compaq kit by the way if that matters.

Thanks in advance

"Ultra-2, ultra-160 and ultra-320 devices may be freely mixed on the
parallel LVD bus with no compromise in performance, as the host adapter
will negotiate the operating speed and bus management requirements for each
device. You can attach Single-ended and LVDS devices to the same bus, but
all devices will run at the slower single-ended speed."
