No.Thanks

As the subject says. I've got 2 desktops running Ultimate 64 and for
the life of me I can't format or copy files to them at all. I've
scoured the net for a solution and tried a few but nothing has worked.
I now have a laptop with Home Premium 32bit and it works just fine!
Both of the desktops have HP DVD burners that support the CD-RW format
but they will not work. I've also tried DVDs and they will also not
work. Anyone else run into this problem, and more importantly, found a
solution? Thanks for any info you can give!

Some drives will read both CDs and DVDs but only burn CD-Rs [and not
DVD-Rs]. Check to make sure what exactly is capabilities of the optical
drives you are using. 'Sounds like you may have that type of drive that
reads both CDs and DVDs but only burns CD-Rs.

I don't think it has nothing to do with 64 bit Vista Ulitmate or 32 bit Home
Premium. The problem lies most likely with the DVD driver. Make sure that
you have the correct driver for 64 bit Vista. You should be able to get the
driver from HP. When I installed 64 bit Vista Ultimate on my new HP
notebook, I had to go to HP to get the correct drivers for everything.

Some manufacturers even offer firmware updates for their optical drives ..
might check the manufacturer's website.
