It's a DOS game according to the System requirements:
Required: 386SX, 386 or 100% compatible PC system, 2MB RAM, MS-DOS,
570,000 bytes conventional memory free, CD-ROM drive, hard drive, keyboard,
Microsoft compatible mouse.
Recommended: sound card (supports SoundBlaster or 100% compatible sound
board); double speed CD-ROM drive. Previously available on floppy disk.

When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:

and always check at fileplanet.com to see if there's a patch available,

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:

which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.
