I found this posting in alt.comp.hardware.amd.x86-64 and as I am
considering the ASRock motherboard in the pasted text below, I was
wondering if anyone would care to comment. My ISP does not turn up any
hits for an ASRock newsgroup separate from this one.
---pasted from alt.comp.hardware.amd.x86-64---
My bro has just bought a Venice 3200+ with an ASRock Dual SATA (ULi
chipset) motherboard and 6800GS. He is now saying that he gets constant
random spikes from all programs listed under processes on task man, CPU
is pegged out at 100% all the time and the system is lagging to hell. I
have got him to switch off cool'n'quiet but its still doing it.
Any one come across similar and can offer advice?
---end paste---
Further, please opine on the ULi M1695 chipset.
I am also considering the very popular A8N-SLI-Premium, but it is far
more expensive than this ASRock offering and I am thinking (or am I?)
the money could go to a better processor or video card. I overclock to
experiment but normally use the component settings for day-to-day so
that will set the bar regarding the chipset and overclocking features.
Thanks,
