I visited the uk security online web site at
http://www.uksecurityonline.com/index5.php

That site has lots of tips on how to prevent
viral infections in windows systems.

Although the advice they give there sounds good,
I want to get comments from other people rather
than blindly doing what some web site says to do.

I see very little tips on how to prevent viral infection at the Virus
Defense link. However, I see lots of *solid* information on how to secure
a NT based O/S such NT, 2K and XP called *hardening* the O/S from attack,
if you're using one of the NT based O/S(s).

Not only is that information applicable to an NT based workstation, but
it can be applied to a NT server based O/S as well.

I suggest that you apply/implement a lot of it or damn near all of it,
espaccilly for a machine that is directly connected to the Internet with
no router or FW applicance in front of it.

The protection starts with the O/S and everything else is secondary to
it. If the O/S is not secure, than nothing on the machine is secure.

If that link is not good enough for you, the I suggest you purchase the
Windows Secuirty Resouces Kit book ISBN 0-7356-1868-2, because most of it
on how to secure the workstation O/S is on that link. :)
