UK Phone number for product activation

Does anyone know the phone number for the UK when my copy of xp needs to be
activated via the phone,
 
Given the way you worded your question, one is tempted to supply

together with the note that there is no way to be sure it will still be the
same when you make the call. However, I decided that reply was too
smart-xass-like even for me.

So, on to plan B-
When you choose to do the product activation and choose to do it by phone,
the appropriate numbers should be part of the information presented to you
on-screen.

This might be it -I don't live in the UK and so have never tried it.- 08000
188 354 Probably, you could use the general UK support number and get it
from them.

As for plan A, I think you are heading for a stretch in the Tower:-)

Thanks guys, I have to go via this route as I've activated too many times
already and I've just formatted and used that route again but all is not
going well with my IE so I may have to bite the bullet again (bang goes
another 4 days getting it the way I like it) and just wanted to check with
them first there would be no problems given I only done it a few days ago

That can be a difficult place to "hang around". It gives literal meaning to
"racked with pain".

Jim why do you select to activate so soon after installing? You would do
better by disabling the feature that suggests you activate immediately you
have finish installing and then run he software for 'at least' 21 days
before even considering activation. Within this period you will find out
what is working and what is causing problems. Should any problems then arise
you can re-install again and follow the same procedure. It is pointless
activating so early is you are getting problems so soon after installation.

I install from a XP Pro SP2 disc and of course I have all windows updates to
go through and some of these need to have XP activated before you can
download/install them, and of course I want the machine as up to date as
possible
 
Often postulated to have been the fate of one of Henry IV's brothers in
1487, I somewhat dimly recall. No, I was not there!

No they don't - I've just done the same thing and did NOT have to activate
before I could download all the security updates....OFFICE updates are a
different matter....
