Uisng Remote Assistence

I am trying to use the Remote Assistence to connect to my Mother's computer.
Both systems are home networked systems in different locations in the USA.
The problem I have is with reliability of the connection. It seems the
Messenger service causes frequent disconnects, so even when I am successful
in making the Remote Assistence connection I may not last much more then 10
minutes. I have a similar problem with Messenger itself. That is I get
frequest disconnects and have to log back in even though I have not done
anything on my computer to generate a signoff.

Any suggestions appreciated

The Messenger service? That should be disabled by default in Windows XP SP2?
Perhaps you can/should consider looking into an alternative if you're
looking for stability.

www.realvnc.com has a free version available. Password protection and
uninstallation (or disabling it from startup) is a must for security
reasons.
