UI Issues during scan

While a spyware scan is in progress, I've found that the
following actions cancel the scan. It is not obvious that
they will cancel the scan, and there is no popup
confirming that you want to cancel the scan.

1) Clicking the "Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1" graphic
below the menu bar.

2) Clicking the "Advanced Tools" icon. I assume the same
happens for "Spyware Scan" and "Real-time Protection".

My second issue is about understanding the scan progress.
Right now, it says "Spyware threats detected: 1",
and "Detected Spyware on your system: CoolWebSearch
Browser Hijacker". However, it shows 0 memory proecesses
infected, 0 spyware files infected, 0 registry keys
infected, and 0 cookies infected. What does this mean?
What is the difference between a spyware threat and an
infection?

Also, "Spyware files infected" seems to be worded
incorrectly. It's checking for spyware infection, not for
spyware files being infected by... something?

Finally, I really dislike the menu bar's new behavior.
Why break away from behavior that users have gotten used
to over the past who-knows number of years?

On a positive note :), if this can get rid of the browser
hijack that's been plaguing IE on my system, I'll be VERY
happy!!

Adam,

Thanks for your post. We are aware of that situation and have filed a bug
for the automatic abort issue.

Thanks again!

Adam,

Can you give me an example of the behavior which prompted the below
statement:

I'm trying to get rid of hijacker myself. I am infested
with "about blank" I posted a question about it but have
had no response. So if you find a good solution please
email me ([email protected])and let me know. I don't
want to waste time downloading this new beta if it's not
going to fix it.
Thanks,
Ty

Steve,

Normal menu bar behavior:

1) Click "File" menu bar item in IE. File menu appears
2) Drag mouse to "Edit" menu bar item. Edit menu appears.

AntiSpyware menu bar behavior:

1) Click "File" menu bar item. File menu appears (without
the colorfull blue "theme" - odd).
2) Drag mouse to "Options" menu bar item. No Options menu
appears.

Other irregularities:

1) Hovering the mouse over a menu bar item does not
graphically raise or highlight that menu bar item.

2) Mouse pointer changes to a hand icon when hovering over
a menu bar item.

3) Menu bar does not have a horizontal separator.

I do like how you've made use of the unused space on the
right side during a scan by placing the Spyware Scan,
Advanced Tools, etc icons up there.
