Ugrading windows 2000 Professional

I am thinking of upgrading Windows 2000 Professional to Windows 2003 Server.
Is a fresh install best, or is it okay to upgrade my current win2k pro
install to win2003 server?
 
There is no supported upgrade path from any version of workstation to any
version of server.

Dave Patrick already answered your question but ...

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to ?

Have you upgraded a workstation so that it now has more CPUs or
RAM than is supported by W2K Pro ?
