I just bought a new computer with Vista on it and so far, I've had to buy a
new printer which I'm not real thrilled about since I just spent $60 on ink
for the old one which nothing is wrong with. But anyway, now I'm transferring
my files from the old computer to the new and most of its going ok, but I
can't seem to transfer my favorites or my email. Also, I have FrontPage 98 (I
know its old, but it works just fine for me) and I can't get it to install
correctly or transfer my websites from the old computer. So, let me guess,
that's never going to work..right? I NEED to have my website and FrontPage
because I run my business that way. Am I going to have to end up putting XP
on this new computer?? Please help untangle this mess

Thanks! - Kelli

FP 98 won't run on Vista.

I seem to recall pointing this out - gotta buy new stuff to accommodate
Vista - and I was told to 'get with the times' in not so many words.

I call it bullshit. How about you?

Tom - is there any way to go back to XP if Vista is already pre-installed?

I can think of several solutions:

1) go down and buy a copy of XP.

2) install Linux and run FP under WINE.

3) learn a new web page editor - there are several good free open source
ones.

hi Kelli,
well the way I got around it was to partition the harddrive and have xp on
one side......
that's the only way to work with stuff that doesnt work with vista.
It's not either or right now, you have to have both.

Download Virtual PC 2007. It's free and you can run a virtual install of XP
on there and install FP '98 that way.

No you'd have to buy a new copy of XP or use the disk from your last computer
if its a retail version

Good idea, and... I'd add a disclaimer that A. VPC is maybe a little more
complicated than a number of folks might be willing to deal with... and B.
should probably have 2GB's RAM on your host seat if you're going to be
hosting VM's.

Do you have a router into which both PC's can connect? Or is your ISP
connection either dial-up or DSL/Cable modem straight to PC? I ask because
you could have both running and use your old PC for running FP98 while
learning about Vista on your new PC.

2 port KVM's (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) are relatively inexpensive and hook up
2 PC's to one monitor, keyboard, mouse. Very useful, imho. And far easier to
configure when compared to dual booting or running virtual machines (VM's).
Just hit a hot key combo to move from one PC to the other PC, on the
monitor.
