Hi,

Today I recieved my ubiquio 501 to replace my XDA2i. when i connected my
Ubi. to my windows vista laptop it began to install the drivers for it.

Soon after i recieved an error message about vista being unable to install
the device. Also according to vista the device name was "Generic RNDIS
(PROTOTYPE--Remember to change idVendor)".

Nothing I do can get it installed properly. Any suggestions?

Device Spec:
Ubiquio 501
Windows Mobile 5.0 (with messaging and security feature pack)
Connection type: USB

DJMoran,

Make sure that any drivers that came with the Ubiquio are Vista compatible.
I'm not familiar with that device, so I only make this comment because you
didn't disclose what drivers, if any, you are using, or what Windows feature
in Vista the Ubiquio is designed to work with.

The CD that came with the device contained only Activesync software, which as
you way already know, is not Vista compatible.

The device is a Windows Smartphone which connects via USB cable (USB A to
USB mini) to the computer.

as with all mobile devices i'm assuming it doesn't need a driver and
windows mobile sync center takes care of it.

DJMoran,

Well, like I say, I'm not familiar with the Ubiquio, but take a look at the
following link to determine whether it contains information that can get the
device connected to Vista:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx

If this doesn't help, and no one here provides the information you need, try
participating in a forum that focuses on Ubiquio 501. Google could be useful
in finding such a forum, if you don't know of one. Anyway, to my logic, if
the Ubiquio comes with Activesync, which in not compatible, then you need a
replacement for it that is compatible. Hopefully, the above site has what
you need.

I took a look at that like you posted and found a section about an rndis
workaround.

It now connects.

I believe the problem is related to the Vista RNDIS drivers.

Thnx know I can't get it to connect to the Device center. In the device
center it is shown as "Microsoft USB Sync"

Also not sure whether this is relevant or not but there is a evice called
Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #3 and has a warning sign on the icon.

Any help on those?
