UAC/UAP (and similar in XP Pro?) installation things

I cross posted this to XP General too as I wondered if there are good
practice things in place already.

Scenario:
- single user computer with admin and limited user logins attributed to
the same person (in this case moi!)

1 - install single user EULA based software from admin login to be used
in limited user login (it would be wonderful if Adobe Phostoshop CS
played nicely in such a scenario too IMO)

? - when does one register the software? At admin login or at limited
user login?

? - ca one at admin level assign usability to a declared limited user login?

? - can one confirm the admin assigned usability at limited user login
thereby confirming and upholding the single user EULA?

With apologies if the answers to the above are trivially easy (obviously
I have a great deal to learn)

Deebs--

In my expeirence a lot of 3rd party apps will install; some of them need to
have their executable right clicked to "run as admin" to get in. In some
builds I had to do that to MSFT Office but there have been so many, and in
using diff builds I have installed so much software to each of them I can't
remember which.

It seems a bit of an under specified area?

I tried to install some stuff in XP Pro limited user account and have
more or less adapted to install via local admin to run in limited user
login.

But just installed Avant browser under local admin and expected to see
the icons but ...

Installing Avant browser worked workingly from a limited user account :( :?

Me? I'm confused and prefer a robust arrangement wherein no limited
account may install but may update should local admin privileges be
granted to do so.

You're post is confusing. Are you asking a question about XP or Vista?
And what exactly is the issue/problem?

For XP see this link about installing software for use with limited user
accounts.

Thank you for the link.

You are quite correct in identifying confusion - I must admit to being
confused.

For example I tried Right click on Photoshop .exe and the only advanced
button was related to file archiving.

Using the same approach on a desktop shortcut reveals a Shortcut tab
that has a different privileges option.

Were it not for your post I think I'd continue to use right click on the
shortcut > Run as

Consequences: all my PSD files now have a link to Picture IT as the
default application. If seems assigning Photoshop does not stick.

You're welcome. Glad it's fixed for you.
