UAC Disrupts applications

I am about ready to trash the UAC altogether until they make it worth running.
My email runs a check while I am in another application and minimizes my application, loses what I was doing.
It would be nice if it were spyware or something but not the same application I run everyday.
UAC is junk.

FWIW...turning off User Account Control reduces
the security of your system.

The option to disable User Account Control
can be found at: Control Panel / Classic View /
User Accounts.

This sounds like a problem with your email program not UAC.

Kill UAC and live free!! It's way to much of a burden for the little
purported 'protection', IMHO.

That is unusual.
Do you have the latest version of that Email program?
Ask the manufacturer what they say about Windows Vista compatibility.
If the program is properly written and installed, you should not have
that problem.

UAC works fine here, I rarely see it.

Kerry, I've had UAC make several programs unusable. They were older
software, but turning off UAC solved the problem. We've gotton along
without UAC since the beggining of time. If it is a problem, turn it off.

Yes, but be aware of the implications of doing so. In addition to negating a
lot of the security about what processes are allowed to do you lose
protected mode in IE and the virtual registry and file settings may not work
as expected. So far I haven't found any programs that I couldn't replace
with Vista compatible ones or get to run with setting compatibility mode.
The worst one so far is an old version of Palm Hotsync and Chapura
PocketMirror which is the only version that will work with my Treo phone.
Even those with a little bit of experimentation I got working.
