We have one computer on our network that has several
addresses in the IE6 address bar history when you click
the down-arrow. One of hte other ones is ?u???????u???
D?. It has happened before and it went away for a short
time after clearing history but it seems to come back.
This is running on a Win98se box, Gateway, peer-to-peer
network connected to the web via DSL through a
firewall/router box. Running Norton AV 2003 and Zone
Alarm Free 3.7.202.

What could be causing this? How can it be stopped? Any
help on this is appreciated.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Thanks for the info, Henri.

Can't get into the board to post, or register, but managed
to use a couple spyware programs (Ad-Aware and Spybot S &
D) that I use on my computers at work and home. Cleared
the computer of it's history, cookies and temporary
internet files. Hopefully that will take care of whatever
was causing that.
