I'm in the U.S. and I bought an XP Home Full Edition retail package
from an eBay seller in Canada for a PC that I'm building (I've been
told that it's better than an OEM version). My question, (and this
is something I didn't think of before) are there any differences
between a/the Canadian version and the American version of XP Home?

This might sound like ignorance on my part, but, for example, are
words spelt like "Colour" instead of "Color"? And will the
spellchecker recognize some words as being incorrect but are in fact
correct for my style of English? Or any other differences?

Didn't you like any of the answers you got this afternoon?

Hi;
Canadian CDs offer the American Locations and Settings as STANDARD....even
for the French v.
So: "No Problemos".

The Canadian version had different dialog in question boxes
here are some examples

"Are you sure you want to delete the file, eh ?"
"Copy selected files, eh? "
"Install to selected folder, eh ?"

It's exactly the same as a generic OEM version. But the OEM
version has the following disadvantages:

1. Its license ties it permanently to the first computer it's
installed on. It can never legally be moved to another computer,
sold, or given away.

2. It can only do a clean installation, not an upgrade.

3. Microsoft provides no support for OEM versions. You have to
get any needed support from your OEM, and that may range anywhere
between good and non-existent.

There is no spell checker in Windows XP, nor has there been one
in any other version of Windows. Spell Checking is a function of
an application program, not the operating system. It comes with
Microsoft Office, for example.

The US ones are

[redneck accent]
"Do you gone wants to delete des things?"
"Copy blue-colored things?"
"Put in blue-colored thing for keeping yours stuff?"

You sound like a newyorker. Any Redneck would laugh at your accent.

Sounds more Cajun , to me.
Diogenes must still be searching.

Actually I'm neither from Newyork or Cajun.

PS This is not PXD, as you can see from my name, I rather don't like her.

Has she returned? I haven't seen her in months. What's her name this time?

For one thing, you'd see messages like this:

"This program has performed an illegal function, eh? So, Bob's your
uncle, and grab a two-four, 'cause Windows will now close, eh?"
