Typing the name to search...

In Outlook 2002, you used to be able to click on "Contacts" then start
typing a name to move through your list of contacts. It seems Outlook 2003
doesn't let you do that anymore. When you click on "Contacts", you have to
first select a contact before you can start typing. This extra step is
annoying a lot of my users.

Is this a new "feature" or is there a fix for this problem?

Thanks!

Marc

A number of people have reported this behavior, but I've never seen it.
Apparently, in some installations screen focus is lost when the Contact
Folder opens and must be restored before you can search the folder. No fixes
that I'm aware of.

I thought the new behavior is expected because of the way they changed how
the feature works on the folder list?

But I still find the behavior very inconsistent. Sometimes when I select
Contacts from the Nav Pane, focus is there, sometimes not. Same with Folder
List.
