Typing on a protected document

I typed a form that requires check boxes and many comment lines.(used the underline key)

When I protect the document, it's possible to check the boxes, but the person is unable to type on the lines.
The curser moves to the next page, skipping the comment lines. Do I need to use the text box when I draw comments lines?
What do I need to change or adjust?
Thanks....your help is appreciated.

If you want users to be able to type in comments, you will need to provide
text form fields (the ab button on the Forms toolbar) to accommodate these.
Don't bother about lines for them to type on.

In a protected form, the user is only permitted to type where you have
inserted fields to allow them to do so! So, using the forms toolbar,
insert a TEXTFORM Field by clicking the "ab" button. Click the Form
Field Options button (the one with the hand at the top) or right-click
and select Properties; you will see that you have a number of options!
If you want to include some prompts, or instructions to the user, you
can include them by clicking the "Add Help Text..." button.

If you want the user's input underlined, rather than having all those
lines you've typed in, select the field, then click the Underline icon
or press Ctrl+U. You might find it easier to use a borderless table
to contain your fields, checkboxes and text, because you can control
the width and height of the cells in which responses will be placed.

I would also suggest that after you protect the form, you save it as a
template (File->Save As Save as type: Document Template (*dot).
