typing in address bar

I have just bought a new computer and now, unlike my old one, i now have to
type in " http:// " before all www. addresses where before i could just type
in www.microsoft.com and it would go to the site? Can anyone help with this?

You will have to edit the registry to fix this. See this site for more

Actually, if you're using IE6, just type "microsoft", and use <ctrl> <enter>

I've tried everything suggested in these newsgroups so far and still have had
no luck with the "http" problem. Any other suggestions out there?

Just wondering - did you restart Windows or reboot after applying the
changes here?
