Typing Error

I just posted my question and now I can't find it. So again, I am having
problems on my Dell Inspiron Laptop E1505 with typing errors. Everytime I
type either on address bar or a word doc or whereever on my laptop, it types
numbers when typing letters and it types letters when typing numbers. Not
all keys type erroneously. This happened after my grandson played a game on
it. Could that caused the problem and how can I correct that? Thank you.
P.S. I am typing from my desktop. Please, I need a remedy.

Check that the NumLock on the keyboard is off. If it´s on that could be the
cause of the problem.

try the numlock or Fn key

these are 2 keys on the keyboard that switch the layout of the keyboard to
do more things..

its not broken, only one of those 2 keys has been pressed.

( trying to save your grandson from trouble :-) )

I you have a laptop, look at the keys 7,8,9,0,U,I,O,P,J,K,L,;,M,. and /.
These keys act as a numeric keypad if "num lk" (numeric lock) is on. On my
HP notebook, I turn numlock on or off by pressing the fn key, next to the
left ctrl key, along with the "num lk" key just above the backspace key near
the top right. However, if only numlock is on, that will not cause numbers
on the top row to become letters. I don't know what is causing that.

No neither made a difference so my Grandson is still in the hotseat; but he's
only 6 and he was playing from the Disney Website. I hope it's not a virus.
I am scanning it now. Any other suggestions?

Hi Alice,

First check that numlock, shift, and the fn key are not stuck by rapping
each several times. If that fails to help, uninstall the game your grandson
is using, it may have remapped some keys. If that fails, use system restore
to go back to a day before it was initially installed.

That was one of the first things I tried (after other attempts) was system
restore and at least 2 weeks back and did not make a difference. The NumLock
and FN keys didn't make a difference. I am now scanning my pc with McAfee
after that I may try anti-malware. Thank you for your response.

Well someone from another community suggested for me to try another keyboard
and I did and guess what? I have no problems with another keyboard! So my
laptop is still under warranty and so I will be calling them in the morning
as too tired tonight. Thank you everyone for your support and response. And
Happy Super Bowl results.....I am a Cowboy fan.

The Cowboys did not win. :)

Have you tried doing a cold boot (complete shutdown and then restart) or
restarting the computer?
