Does anyone know how to the typed url's from the search bar in internet
explorer 6.0. I am also running wimdows 2000 pro. Also is there a way to turn
this functon off or have it clear at shutdown of either IE or sys?

Don't know what registry settings, I suggest you download tweakui.

It has a paranoia tab where you can clear a lot of mru's on logoff.

There should be a newer version than this 1.33 - seems abandoned by ms.

Typed URLs are recorded in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\TypedURLs. The individual entries are named url1 through url25.
If you delete one, you have to rename the higher-numbered ones if you want
to keep them. IE ignores anything that follows a gap in numbering. If
you don't want to keep any of the entries, you can delete them all, or
just delete url1.

Be sure that IE is closed when you make these changes, or they will be
overwritten.

Another, easier way to accomplish this is to use EditURLs from
http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm
 
Sorry guys ! I,ve installed tweakiu also went to the regitry to typed url's
but to no avail. But i did notice an item in the regitry called (url search
hooks) could this be what I am looking for. Is there a way to clear THIS
item?

Hi Heavenshelp - To delete ALL Addresses in the Drop Down list, go here and
download and install Mike Burgess' DelTypedURL.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm See below for Selective Delete.

You can also get DelSearchMRU.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelSearchMRU.inf

Note: this does not remove entries entered via AutoComplete. To remove
hidden AutoComplete entries in History:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm#AutoComplete


IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure that ALL instances of IE6 are CLOSED before you do
the install of this (these) .inf files. Otherwise the "old" entries will
just be re-written back to the Registry when you close IE.

A nice alternative just for selective or all Address (not Search) history
maintenance is EditURLs, here: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/ Here also,
you must close ALL instances of IE6 for the deletions to "take".
