We are trying to figure out why on a clients machine when they type in for
example www.cisco.com without the http:// it takes it like 1 minute for it
to pull the site up. If I put in the http:// it pulls it up right away. It
is not a DNS issue but more like IE is not defaulting to port 80 and
eventually coming to that port and pulling the page.

I looked at this post and tried what it said but that did not resolve the
problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
Frank's advice should have worked about 99.99% of the time.

Here are a few other things you night try...
1. Enable Inline Autocomplete in Internet Options> Advanced.
2. Clear the IE cache
3. Clear the History
3a. Open a Cmd window (or from Start> Run) enter
ipconfig /flushdns
Then restart.

4 & 5. Delete the Temporary Internet Files folder and the History folder.
(Might be an autocomplete problem) See
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

6. Disable unknown or suspicious add-ons from IE> Tools> Manage add-ons.
7. Check for malware with CWShredder, Ad-aware & Spybot.
