Type of Memory Needed for MM2

I'm presently making a movie in MM2 and think it will be about 25
minutes long when completed.

I wonder if I'll have enough memory on my computer when the movie is
that big. Right now it's only about nine and a half minutes long.

If I need to add more memory to my computer -- what kind do I add?

Can I install it myself (like I did withy my FireWire card)?

This is what I have now:

- Dell Dimension 4550
- Windows XP Home Edition
- Pentium Processor 4 at 2.0 GHz
- 256MB SDRAM at 266 MHz
- 64MB GeForce4 MX Graphics Card with TV-Out
- 60 GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive 7200 RPM
- Intel Pro 100M Integrated PCI NIC Card (I don't even know what this
is)
- 250 MB Iomega Zip Built-In Drive
- External Iomega SuperDVD Writer

When my movie is done I assume I'll save it to a 30 minute tape on my
MiniDV digital camcorder in order to play it for a crowd of people at
a large party.

Thanks for any advice.

Try the memory configurator at www.crucial.com. It will tell you exactly
what memory your PC takes.

I'd recommend at least 512mb on a PC for decent digital editing..... I have
1gb.

Your Intel Integrated NIC is a network card.... or rather a LAN port on your
motherboard.

Hi there,

Once you have captured Video available or Stills, whatever. The amount of
RAM you have is not critical, although 256MB of RAM is below the "ideal"
Having more RAM will reduce the need to swap out memory segments to the
virtual memory (which is by comparison a very slow process). So, less ram
equals longer to compile the final file.

This does not mean that if you increase the amount of RAM that the program
will take less time as the amount of available ram increases. I have 1.5GB
of RAM on my work machine and when running Movie Maker there is seldom more
than 550MB in use So if increasing the RAM for Movie Maker is your only
reason for increasing the RAM....2/3 GB of RAM would be all you need.
