I am having a problem with this game crashing to desktop. It started out a
few days ago happening about every 2 hours but now crashes much more
frequently, often after 5 minutes. Anyone got any suggestions as to how t
fix?

Try all the suggestions found on other games (run as administrator, run in
XP compatibility mode, check the game makers website to see if they have
Vista troubleshooting suggestions), If that fails tell us what happenes when
you try each thing, then respond here with the results as well as your
computer make and model. If it's a custom system include a component list
along with the version of Vista you're using.

Ok, Andy. Sorry for the delay responding. First, I was running the game with
UAC off, so running as admin was not an option. In that mode I tried the
suggestions on the Two Worlds site: not overclocked, re-install Physx,
checked drivers, Anti-Virus off. None of the foregoing stopped the problem.
I also tried running the game in a window and that let me play the game for
several hours without incident.

However, I then engaged UAC and ran the game for over 2 hours without
incident, except that the game would then not save, automatically or
manually. I then ran it as Administrator and its started saving. I played
the game in that mode for one hour before in crashed to desktop. I started
it up again and it ran for another 1/2 before crashing again. I am going to
try today to run it as Admin in windowed mode.

Game version 1.5
Windows Ultimate 64-bit
Striker Extreme mobo with latest Bios 1305
Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 cpu
Zalman CNPS 9700NT cooler,
BFG D 1000 watt PS
Two Hitachi T7K500 hard drives
4gig Readyboost drive.
Nivdia 8800 GTX Graphics cards (not running in SLi) with latest drivers -
163.44
4 gigs Ram - Mushkin
Monitor running at 2560x1600 res. In widowed mode it runs at a lower res.

Thanks. What do you think?

You may want to download and install the hotfix found here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105

Quoting NVIDIA:

<quote>The following hotfix is recommended for GeForce 6, 7, and 8 series
customers running 3D applications on Microsoft Windows Vista:

Hotfix for GeForce customers running DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 applications:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105. This hotfix resolves abnormal
application behavior such as crashes and extremely low frame rates when
running some 3D applications at very high graphics settings. This issue is
NOT limited to, but has been most commonly noticed on high-end graphics
cards and the following applications: Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142,
Civilization IV, Company of Heroes, Half-Life 2, Lord of the Rings: The
Battle for Middle Earth II, Supreme Commander, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
Vegas.

In order for this hotfix to be effective, GeForce customers must also update
to the latest ForceWare Release 163 drivers. <unquote>

I'm thinking you shouldn't be having problems with this game given how much
cash you put into your rig.

Call the software dev and see if they have any known issues. I saw Two
Worlds at BBY this weekend. Hadn't even heard of the game til your post.
Might have to check it out.

LoL, my thoughts exactly Andy. KB940105 may be the answer though. See Dean's
post. I was running Two Worlds for hours after I did the upgrade without it
crashing. We will see how it runs today. I recommend the game. Sort of a
cross between Gothic 3 and Oblivion. Big open spaces to wander through and
lots of good quests. More quests than Oblivion.

The problem may lie with your graphics card itself - if it's outdated or
rather old, then no amount of software can amend hardware issues; try to
look around stores to see if you can upgrade.
