Canon's web site says that some of their printers have, "Dual paper
path with built-in 2 sided printing." How does this work and how
well does it work? Thank you in advance for all replies.

I have an MP780 and have used the two sided printing option a few times.
It works surprisingly well. You don't have to do anything with the
paper. The printer does all the paper manipulation that is necessary.

I am TERRIBLY cruel to my cat. I tease him with a vine tendril
until he either jumps up in the air to bat at it or zooms around
in a circle until he gets too dizzy to stand up. What is cruel about
it is that I don't do it nearly as much as he wants me to.

The IP4000 has it. I've only used it once so far but seemed to work quite
smoothly. Sort or prints the first side, then sucks the paper back in from
the paper out tray (without ever fully letting go of it) to print the other
side.

I have the canon ip3000 and tried this feature once to see how it worked...
It printed one side and before letting the paper fully go it sucked it back
in then started printing on the other side. Very slick feature!

Canon PIXMA iP8500 Color Photo printer...duplex printing is a no brain'er!

I have the ip3000 & "greyscale" with duplex is the default setup; it
is quite nice when printing a "web page" that turns out to be more than
1 page.

A 50 page doc have also been printed; had to add paper while printing
tho; but the duplex came out good enough for me as it wasn't for
publication & it was good enough for a term paper.

It work great. I use the bottom cassette for paper and the top auto
sheet feeder for photos. I duplex when using plain paper and have had
no problems.

I have this feature also on my iP5000. It's not exactly a fast process.
If pressed, I can probably print the flip side faster manually, though
I don't really care to time the different methods. But it is a nice
feature if you're a busy person who doesn't have time to sit there and
flip pages, or the kind who wants to save paper.

By the way, the interesting part about it printing the flip side...
when it draws the paper back in after printing side 1, it prints side 2
from the bottom up as opposed to the usual method of top side first!

The iP5000, by the way, is an awesome machine, the dots in photos (1 pl)
virtually can't be seen. And it was only $239 at Costco in Canada. This
is only about $40 more than the lesser iP4000, which I originally
intended to buy. Glad I didn't. :-)

I've got the ip5000 and love the duplex printing. I've printed several
hundred pages in duplex, and have yet to get a jamb or any other problem.
