I here two short beeps when first powering up or rebooting before the ASUS
splash screen appears. The machine appears to boot normally, but what could
be causing this ? Is this normal ??

Thanks

matt

I bet you that you have two USB devices hookup to your computer. One beep
for each device. Yes it is normal.

I believe that some of the newer Asus boards beep once for each connected
USB device, for some reason..

I have two USB devices and I only get one beep.

Then again, my speech reporter doesn't work either.

I wonder what someone having 8 devices would hear? 8 beeps? Wouldn't that
sound a tad annoying?

That "some reason", btw, is that it's a feature of the AMI BIOS.

I reckon if you had all the USB headers loaded with as 127 devices each, the
motherboard plays 'Popcorn'
:)

update your bios and it fixes the problem. asus came out with that fix not
long ago

I have both P4P800 DLX and P4C800-E DLX, both beeps 3 times at booting,
no matter whether I have USB external or not.

It is just a signal of AMI BIOS that it is working, nothing else.
