Mark G.

i have two more or less identically configured computers (laptop and
desktop) same sw etc.

upgrading to office 2003 from office 2000 on both, a couple weird things
happened.
the laptop has an account called "outlook address book" of type Mapi
(default); no other accounts were updated (i have about 10 or so pop
accounts)
this mapi account is NOT on the desktop, but the desktop properly configured
the email accounts.

1) what happened?
2) what is this mapi account, and do i need it on my desktop? (i use the
address book all the time, or at least used to - it now doesnt work with at
least one program)
3) is there any way to export then inport the pop account settings like you
could do with office 2000? or do i have to type them all in
individually.....

thanks,

mark

Yes, you need the Outlook Address Book in each profile. Add it under address books to the machine that doesn't have it.

No, you can't export the account settings.

thanks;

ok, i added it to the desktop, but one program still doesnt work; hp fax
driver for g85; it used to allow you access to the address book. now when
you look up a contact, it gives you two address books; shared contacts and
main identity contacts. shared has nothing in it, main identity has a
single entry (my aol messenger id).

how do i get this back to working? or is it a bug with the hp software?

Share Contacts and Main Identity Contacts are terms from Outlook Express, not Outlook. It's either a bug with the HP software or you haven't set Outlook to be your default mail program (in Internet Explorer -- Tools | Internt Options | Programs.
