Hi!

I would like to put another Promise TX2 Raid pci card into my system to
be able to add more hds to it.

Is this possible?

Will there be any conflicts (ie. as far as I know there must be a
boot-drive selected in the config menu of the promise card... what will
happen if each card has a boot drive selected...? )

OS is WinXP.

Does anybody have experience with that?

Thanks.

Best regards
Pete

Why wouldn't it be possible?

So has the Main Board IDE. Or a SCSI card. So?
what will happen if each card has a boot drive selected...? )

The same as with the MB bootselection, maybe?
Your MB is in control of the bootsequence.
What gets enumerated first gets the first chance.
What is enumerated first may depend on the preferred bootsequence
in MB Setup.

What happens next is dependent on whether the prefered boot also finds
a bootable drive there and on certain conditions met when it is or is not.
When the conditions are met the bootsequence just goes off each controller
position and each drive position in sequence until a bootable drive is found.
If that's on say your second Promise controller then it has to match that
second controllers bootdrive ID.

I have experience with pairs of non-RAID promise TX2 and SATA TX4.
No problem, the BIOS on the card initialised first manages both cards.
