Two problems

I'm working on an AMV, and I've noticed a few things that I know aren't
really supposed to happen:
1. If I watch my project so far from the beginning, it plays fine. But if I
start, say, 20 seconds into the video, the music doesn't start at the point I
paused at, but instead at one a few seconds earlier.

2. I split a clip into thirds and added [Fade In, From White] to two of them
so I could get the flashing effect. On the third clip, however, it stops
playing. I can watch the rest if I set the point to after the said clip, but
then problem 1 comes into play.

What's going on? Would a simple restart of the computer do it or is it
something a bit more complex?

Hi Jessu,

Without more information I would guess one of two things:
1) The video file is an MPG
2) The audio file is an MP3

Are either of these things true?

Otherwise try saving the video to your computer and play it in Media Player
to see how it plays.

The video file's an AVI. I made sure that all my downloads were like that.
The music is MP3, yes, as are all my other music files which have worked
perfectly fine in my other projects.

MP3's generally do work fine it is just the occasional one that seems to be
an issue but I don't think it is an audio problem anyway.

More likely a codec issue, AVI's can be made with many different codec's so
the one WMM is choosing to work with your AVI could be the culprit.

Are you creating these files yourself or downloading animations for the
project?
If downloaded you could run GSpot to see which codec was used to create the
AVI and make sure you have that codec installed.
Another option could be to disable the filters in WMM and try it, one of the
installed codec's could be causing the problem.
