Two platforms!

A little while back a virus got into my computer through a file-sharing program. It sucked up all my virtual memory, making it impossible to use the internet and a number of other programs. I decided to re-install Windows XP, despite being, at that time, quite inefficient concerning computers. Long story short, there are now TWO versions of Windows XP on my computer. Two platforms. Whenever I start the computer, it asks me which one I want to go to. How do I get rid of the virus-infected platform? I'd really appreciate any help. And I do still have the Windows XP disc and all. Thanks again.

You simply delete the 'wrong' installation, in explorer, taking care that
you select the correct, wrong one. You will then have to edit the boot.ini
file to remove the refference to this installation..
Take care!

Hi Megan,

Delete the unwanted installation, and then go to Start/Run and type
in: msconfig
Then go to the Boot.ini tab and click on check all Boot paths. If you
receive a warning about a duplicate path: Do you want to remove,
choose yes.

Or...

Right click the My Computer icon/Properties/Advanced/Startup and
Recovery/Settings/System Startup/Edit.
