Two (or more) Application Windows

Prior to Office 2000 when you opened more than one
document it would open within the same application window.
Now, if I open more than one Word document it opens in
seperate application windows. Due to my multi-tasking
nature I frequently have several open at the same time
which can get confusing when toggling between them. Is
there a way to return the functionality of the application
windows like it was in Word97?
