I installed a second network card in my computer running
Windows XP. This second network card needs to be able to
run TCP/IP for the Company's Data Acquisition system. But
when I enable this card I cannot log onto the internet
are send and receive Email unless I uninstall the TCP/IP
on the second network card. The first card is DHCP
controlled and the second is manually configured. Any
ideas on some help

Internet access uses a "default gateway" IP address, and each of your
network connections can have a default gateway. If the connection to
the company network has one, it might be overriding the one for the
Internet.

To see if a connection has a default gateway, right click the
connection and click Status | Support | Details. If the company
network has one, try removing it. If that isn't possible, assign a
metric to each of the two network connections, with a lower value
assigned to the Internet connection and a higher value assigned to the
company network.

To assign a metric to a network connection:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the desired connection.
3. Click Properties | Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Properties | Advanced.
5. Un-check "Automatic metric".
6. Enter a number between 1 and 9999 for the "Interface metric".
