Two master slides

I created a template with two master slides - one is the default one that
most slides will use. The second is for the last slide in the presentation.

When I create a new slide in the presentation based on the template, it
comes up with the format of the default master slide. I cannot figure out how
to apply the second master slide. I cannot seem to find it in the icons that
appear in the right window pane when I select "layout."

Right click on the second template in design pane and choose apply to
selected slides

I finally made a slide based on the second master, but not the way I expected.

My second master slide consists of just a graphic logo and no text
placeholders.

However, when I create a new slide and then apply that template from the
slide design pane, all I see is a slide with default text placeholders. I
didn't see the logo. After a while I realized it was because the placeholders
were completely covering the image so I had to delete them.

This doesn't make any sense. I don't know where the placeholders are coming
from because I don't see them on the master slide.
