Two issues with Windows Mail.

I'm having two issues with Windows Mail.

First, it started giving me eight copies of the same email, how do I fix
this?

Second, the deleted items folder stopped working. How do I fix this? It
will not empty the deleted items any more. TIA

Got the eigth email trouble resolved, but I can't delete email messages from
my deleted messages folder. I have no trouble deleting them from other
folders.
