Simon

I have one Internet gateway which has VPN connection to our headquarter.
There is a problem of Web access speed because all Internet access goes via
VPN and through the gateway in the headquarter.
I want to have our local gateway additionally to access Web and to use the
existing gateway to access only our mailserver in the headquarter.
How can I manage this issue?
Any advices would be appreciated.

Simon

you need a smarter router. one that knows how to route your lan traffic
through the vpn and all other internet bound traffic to the internet.

Thanks for your advice.

Do you mean that I will have one more router called master router and set
static route there to the existing router
for mail access?

This is almost impossible to answer without knowing how your LAN is built
and what you are doing with your equipment.

I'll make some assumptions,...and will "guess". Maybe you'll be able to
figure it out from there.

Assuming:
1. You have one single subnet with no LAN Router.
2. You have to Internet Sharing NAT Devices and one additionally
functions as a VPN Server/Router

Set the NAT Device that is *not* the VPN device as the Default Gateway of
the machines. Then on that same NAT Device create a Static Route to the
remote LAN on the other end of the VPN by using the NAT/VPN Device as the
gateway.

So,..traffic will go first to the NAT Device used to Internet access, but
any detinations going to the remote LAN will be redirected by it to the
other NAT Device running the VPN which should be smart enough at that point
to know what to do with it.

Open VPN connector Properties/Networking/TCP/IP Properties/Advanced and
uncheck *Use default gateway on remote network*.
