Two Inconveniences

1. When inserting images into a file the list of images
is not given alphabetically, but by some other criteria
unknown to me. May be historical. Then I must search
through the entire list to find the image I want. How do
I get the list into alphabetical order?

2. I started a new web site. It does not like capital
letters in the file or image names. I also set up a new
folder for the new site. However, when I transfer files
from the old folder to the new, and change the image
names, the old designations persist on the page. I cannot
get rid of them except by going to a completely new file
name. Is there an easy solution?

#1 All image need to be imported in the current open web first and should
appear in alphabetical order, if not close the folder, then re-open it.

#2 You have to rename the first to another name first, then back to the name
you want, and then FP will update all links. The problem is that Windows see
Tom.htm and tom.htm as the same file, whereas you have a site hosted on a
Unix/Linux server with see Tom.htm and tom.htm as two separate files.

In general, if your site will be host on Unix/Linux, use all lowercase for
folder and file names or be prepared for the name problems.

#1 I do not import all images first. I work piecemeal,
adding images as I work on adding (many) pages. Then the
images appear in some unknown order. I cannot rearrange
them alphbetically.

#2 OK, I must rename everything, remove old links, and
insert new. I don't mean merely links, but entire image
format. I use Table to create a frame around picture.
That means I must get rid of Table, and create new with
new image name. Perhaps I should get rid of Table and
merely use Insert on open page. What a pain.

See below.

Ok, you don't need to import every image first, just before you use it you
need to import it into your current open web. You always need to have a web
open when working with your web.

insert new. I don't mean merely links, but entire image

You don't need to do all that just to correct the case of file names.

1. Run Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks

2. Make sure you see Folder List View

3. Select the file in Folder List View and rename to something different,
then rename to the original name using lowercase.

Example:
You have a image file named: Ernest.jpg which needs to be ernest.jpg.

Now rename Ernest.jpg to ernest1.jpg
then rename ernest1.jpg to ernest.jpg

or

just leave the file named as ernest1.jpg which save an additional step.

Yes, I do believe so.
