Two IE's, only one exe

I have 2 IE's on my hard drive, but can only find one
exe. When my DSL boots up it connects to IE 6 no
problem. Every site I go to is fully accessible.
However, if I close out the origanl IE that my DSL booted
up to, the other IE I have does not give me full access to
many sites. For example, the original IE will let me go
into all pages of Consumer Reports, but the other IE does
not. I cannot find the exe for the IE that works, so I am
stuck either closing my internet connection and then
reconnecting, or using the IE that sometimes does not
function correctly. Under options I have both set to the
same settings. When I do a search I get two ie.exe's, but
both go to the IE that doesn't work right sometimes. I
can't find the exe for the IE that works correctly. I
know the IE's are different because My Favorites file has
different saved sites in them. I dl IE again and
reinstalled it, but it did not change the above situation.

There is probably not a difference in .exe as you are assuming.
E.g. a home page controlled by a script could give you the same
effect.

You need to provide specific details if you need more help,
incuding your OS and maintenance level.

For example, if you had NTx I would suggest you test your assumption
about multiple .exe by using Task Manager to check if there is more
than one process. (Right click on the Applications tab on each Task
and choose Go To Process.) Different .exe would force multiple
processes. And even if you see multiple processes that does not
necessarily imply different .exe. To check that case in XP I would
use its msinfo32 /category SWEnvRunningTasks command.
That shows the association of the program name and PID together
with the program's path.

Good luck
