I have two IE icons on my Desktop.

They have different property pages.

I noticed that one is a shortcut to a special folder,
and one is a shortcut to the executable for IE.

They both open IE. One has a "Start in" path and one doesn't

If anyone knows what MS is doing here I appreciate a little enlightenment.

Any reason to keep both?

Thanks

Dear Developer:

In Win xp:

If one of these two icons has a shortcut symbol, and the other one does not,
then the presence of the one without the symbol is controlled by the
following:

Right click desk top | properties | desktop | customize desktop | general |
check appropriate box.

Left clicking the icon without the shortcut symbol launches IE, right
clicking and selecting "properties" gives you access to "internet options,"
otherwise accessible from the top menu bar in IE under "tools."

If the second desktop icon has a shortcut symbol, then it is merely a
shortcut to the icon without the symbol, or rather, the application it
launches.

You can delete either of these icons with impunity. The one without the
shortcut symbol can be regenerated as described above, and the one with the
shortcut symbol can be regenerated by dragging it from the top level start
menu onto the desktop.

Thanks a lot
