I have two users at work, who have identical notebooks, and one of them has
problems with the monitor going into 16 colours and 480 x 540 i think, the
other did do ths until the user downloaded a driver for the video card, via
the windows update.

We have tried running the update on the u/s notebook to no avail, it does
not pick the new updated driver from M/S.

Is there a way i can either copy the relevent files from the good notebook,
to the other?

or is there a location on the M/S site, where i can manually search / down
load the new driver.

I have checked the ATI site, and they refer to M/S

Help!!!!!

TIA

Hi,

You should go to the notebook manufacturer's website to
download the latest XP drivers.
If it is of no avail, try again to run windows update and
check for any drivers update (not in the critical update
column but should be in the drivers update column if the
two notebook are exactly identical)

Thanks for the posting Peter, but as you will see from my initial post, i
have already tried this.
I am trying to find another way to obtain or prompt the notebook to get the
updated driver.

No, you misunderstand. If these are Dell computers, go to www.dell.com
and find the support site for this model laptop. If these are HP,
then.... OK? Then download the appropriate driver set.

Now if this fails (which it should not) there is the probability that
the ATA Catalyst drivers will work with these cards. Note the word
"probability". Many ATI mobil card are essentially repackaged versions
of the desktop cards. I would do this as the absolute last resort after
exhausting all other sources for drivers.
